On Friday afternoon of Holy Week, Jesus Christ willingly goes to the Cross to become ‘the spotless Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.’ Because Jesus Christ had no sin in His life, His innocent blood is able to cover the sins of all who would repent of their sins and make Him Lord. But, His work is not yet complete. According to I Corinthians 15:17, if Christ has died and is not raised from the dead, all mankind is still in their sins.
Early on Sunday morning, Jesus completes the work of Messiah as He conquers both death and the grave. According to Revelation 1:18, Jesus says, “I am the Living One. I once was dead and now look I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades!”
Early on Sunday morning, the women had prepared spices and were on their way to the Tomb to bring a beautiful fragrance to the place of death. When they came to Jesus’ Tomb, the stone in front of the Tomb had been rolled away. They went inside and his body was no longer there. Suddenly, there were two men dressed in bright white (angels) who appeared to the women and said, “Why do you look for the Living among the dead? He is not here, He has risen!” They ran to tell the eleven disciples (for Judas had died) and others the news of Jesus’ resurrection!
