Overview:
Theme of series – The gospel touches every area of one’s life resulting in human flourishing.
Jesus said, “I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect – life in its fullness until you overflow!” John 10: 10b. God’s will in Christ Jesus is for His children to FLOURISH in 5 areas: spiritually (in faith), relationally, vocationally, financially, and wellness (physical and mental). 5 Dimensions of FLOURISHING PEOPLE –

Healthy leadership teams produce thriving churches that create flourishing people. Questions asked to determine Thriving church metrics –
- How much spiritual growth a person is experiencing.
- Their likelihood to recommend and stay at their church.
- The degree to which individuals are flourishing personally.
- Involve members in taking the Barna Flourishing survey. / measure the state of Roswell Street members.
In this sermon series, we will overview the N.T. letters of 1 & 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians (according to our 2020 Bible reading plan ) to equip and empower members to experience the 5 dimensions of FLOURISHING. People who are engaged with a church community and have a healthy faith are more likely to be flourishing personally across all dimensions of human flourishing. We cannot face the disruptive future without being better connected. Outcome – Provide a whole new way to measure the church’s influence in people’s whole lives.
Sunday, June 21 @ 10:30am – FLOURISHING In Fatherhood from 1 Corinthians 1–8
God’s will in Christ is for every father to FLOURISH in relationships with the Lord, his wife, children, vocation, finances and wellness.
i. Flourish by finding Identity in the Cross – 1 Corinthians 1- 2
ii. Flourish by Growing Spiritually mature – 1 Corinthians 3
iii. Flourish as a Patriarchal leader – 1 Corinthians 4:14–21(possibly focal text)
iv. Flourish in Sexual Purity – 5–6 / Wellness physically – 6:19–21
v. Flourish in Marriage – 7
vi. Flourish with Appropriate Convictions – 8
Note – 64% of 18-29 year old young people will walk away from the church or from the Christian faith as they transition to adulthood. How can we reverse this trend? – not by better church programming… but by flourishing fathers imparting their faith to the next generation.

i. Joy-filled living is empowered by gratitude – Philippians – Paul experiences joy in the most difficult of circumstances because of gratitude.
